Starting a baroque ensemble has been a gnawing desire of mine for years. As a child my first experience with baroque music was when my teacher handed me a CD of Anner Bylsma playing the 6 cello suites of Johann Sebastian Bach played on a period Stradivarius with gut-strings. WOW! The freedom of interpretation along with the rich and sweet sound of the period instrument gripped me in a way that no other music ever had. I heard a world of sound that was completely foreign to me, yet somehow familiar and comforting. It is this feeling that keeps me coming back time and again to music of the baroque period and it is my desire to share this feeling with the community both locally and nationally.
